Fostering Families of Faith
We love the culture of family. We want it to grow. We believe people thrive when they are connected to God, nurtured in family, and growing in faith. So we work hard to make sure everyone we come across has met Jesus (because He's a real person!), has developed relationships with encouraging people, and has the resources and direction to keep building their faith.
"God sets the lonely in families..."
Psalm 68:6
Our Team

Shane Nelson, pastor
music: everything
food: coffee
Shane met Jesus "for real" as a young teenager, and has been enjoying "for real" life ever since. His adventure so far has brought him into marriage with his wife and best friend Karissa, into fatherhood to three amazing kids, and into preaching and leading the church at Valley Christian Center. With roots in Alaska, education at Trinity Bible College in North Dakota, and now serving in Oregon, Shane aspires to live out Philippians 3:7-14:
"I want to know Christ - yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead."
Phil 3:10-11, NIV

Amanda Kidd, kids' pastor
music: Anything from One Direction
food: Lasagna

Dutch Bros: Iced Strawberry Peach Rebel
Amanda grew up in Athena, Oregon and attended this very church for most of her young life. After graduating high school, she moved to the “big city” of Albany, Oregon to attend OYAMA (Oregon Youth Alive Ministry Academy) to follow the calling of ministry on her life.
After two years, she continued to follow the call of God and ended up returning to her home church! Amanda is passionate about kids as well as youth and strives for longevity at Valley Christian Center. She models her ministry after Mark 10:14:
“But when Jesus saw it, he was indignant and said to them, “Let the little children come to me; do not hinder them, for such belongs the kingdom of God.”” Mark 10:14
